Gort has a strong base to help deliver a successful Town Centre First Plan.
The focus will initially be on the proposals and practical initiatives that have bee identified site-specific. These are primarily the restoration and re-purposing of identified buildings, urban design interventions.
Starting the regeneration process by initiating the proposals contained within this Plan will shift perceptions around Gort, creating momentum to encourage involvement from the private sector. This should enable an environment where further initiatives come forward, both from this Plan and additional ideas that may not be initially included.
The successful delivery and implementation of this Plan are intrinsically tied to the collaborative involvement and contributions of various stakeholders as listed in the following:
- Galway County Council
- Gort Town Team
- Sub-teams/Focus Groups
- Local community
- National Town Centre First Office
- National Oversight and Advisory Group (NOAG)
- Private landowners and developers
The plan is underpinned by a list of projects defined here and the identified funding sources.
The focus will initially be on the short-term projects and it is hoped that the development and delivery of these projects will give the plan overall momentum for the near future.
